Heritage Malta is once again organising a guided tour of the Mnajdra on Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st to mark the spring equinox.

Sunrise on the first day of each season underlines the relationship between the temples and celestial bodies. Although it is not known for certain whether these orientations were intentional, they are so systematic that this is very probable. In prehistoric agricultural societies, observation of the motion of the stars, the moon and sun could have been related to the changing seasons and times of planting and harvesting crops.

In a bid to provide an enhanced experience to visitors, only 40 visitors will be allowed during the event.

Tickets for the equinox event are at Euro 15.00 per person and Euro 10.00 for Heritage Malta and ICOM members and are strictly on a first come first served basis. Tickets may be bought from all Heritage Malta sites and museums as well as the Head Office, Merchants’ Street Valletta. Please call on 22954000 for any queries.

The meeting point will be at 5.30hrs next to the Hagar Qim main entrance.
