The government has announced that a total of €1 million has been distributed to support 77 different projects carried out by organisations active in sectors related to Maltese feasts, including instrumental music played at fiestas, as well as health and safety in firework factories and semi-permanent feast decorations on the streets of Malta and Gozo.
The Artistic Heritage scheme is managed by the Arts Council Malta within the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government and aims to provide support to voluntary organisations working throughout the year to prepare and enhance activities related to fiestas in our towns and villages.
The funds provided through this scheme support projects in areas that are closely linked to the cultural life of communities. These include musical teaching and training programmes, restoration of works and archives, investment in technology and administrative systems, improvements to musical teaching and performance environments, investment in health and safety in the fireworks factories, restoration of existing infrastructure, and design, manufacture, training, and restoration of semi-permanent artistic installations.
Another call for this scheme will be issued in the second half of this year to give an opportunity to those voluntary organisations that for some reason did not apply in the first call to apply for the second one.
