The 29th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival opens this Friday, the 12th of June, at 8pm with an all-Spanish/Latin American concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of British conductor Philip Walsh at the Teatru Astra, Victoria, Gozo.

Star soloist Simon Schembri will perform Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. Patrons are advised to reserve seats by sending an email to info@viaf.org.mt

Artistic Director, George J. Frendo, said that a series of 30 concerts and cultural events – taking place practically daily until Monday, the 13th of July – will follow this inaugural event. Big bands, choirs and chamber ensembles of every conceivable formation, performing in different venues across Victoria, feature on this year’s programme. Musicians from 22 different countries, including Malta, will ensure that VIAF once again delivers a programme of excellence and beauty.

One of the most popular concerts of the Festival is the al fresco performance by the prestigious Royal Conservatoire Brass of Scotland, which will take place on the rooftop of Il-Hagar Museum on Thursday, the 18th of June.
