The traditional feast of Mnarja marks the start of the holiday season. The National Blood Transfusion Service said that the need for blood unfortunately does not have any holidays – ”can you spare a moment to pop by and leave your donation this summer.”

The Service is once again requesting Gozitans to please show their support to patients in hospital by making the time to donate.

The first donation date is Tuesday, the 7th of July.

The National Blood Transfusion Service also appealed for help to keep the blood supply stable by committing to becoming a regular donor.

The NBTS advised that is has updated the donor eligibility guidelines removing restrictions on a number of medications. For more information on donor eligibility please call on 22066201 or 79307307 or on free phone 80074313.

Donations can be made at the District Health Centre in Xewkija, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club:

Sundays – 8am-1pm, last registration 1:00pm

12th July

26th July

Tuesdays – 1pm-5pm, last registration 5:00pm

7th July

21st July

Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service

• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.

• Drink some water before your donation and have a light snack, not a heavy meal.

• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.
