Xaghra Local Council Mayor, Joseph Cordina on behalf of the council, congratulated Jonathan Young, a twelve-year old student from Xaghra, Gozo, who is one of the finalists in an international competition on the theme of peace organised by the Lions Club International.
Jonathan painted a talented and artistic poster about peace. He was presented with a prize during a ceremony organised by the Lions Club Sliema which are the main promoters of this competition in Malta.
Jonathan’s poster was chosen because of its originality and was amongst just 23 winners chosen from 350,000 participants hailing from 65 different countries around the globe. These posters will be exhibited in several children’s museums in the United States and Australia.
Xaghra Local Council said that they would like to encourage children and students from the Xaghra locality to take part in similar activities even if they are organised on an international level.
The Council believes in the talents of every resident and they would like to ensure that these talents are used for the benefit of the whole of society.
