Marsalforn Road to be temporarily opened to two lanes in coming weeks - MinisterSpeaking about the Marsalforn Road Project in Parliament on Tuesday, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, said that ”the intention is that the road will be temporarily opened to two lanes in the coming weeks to further facilitate accessibility to and from Marsalforn. All the work is expected to be completed by the end of the year December 2026.”

The Minister was replying to a Parliamentary Question tabled by Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Frank Anthony Tabone on the progress of the project, including whether it would open to two lanes so that access is not limited only to vehicles going in the direction of Marsalforn

The Gozo Minister also advised that so far approximately 93% of the works have been completed on Triq Gorg Pisani, Patri Giacintu Camenzuli and the junction between Triq il-Kappucini and Triq Marsalforn, 70% from behind the Grazzja bridge to Ta’ Mena and 57% from the end of the project to the entrance to the Marsalforn Valley. The work from near Ta’ Mena to the entrance to the Marsalforn Valley is expected to begin as soon as the road is opened to two lanes.

Minister Camilleri explained that currently, work is underway simultaneously on several locations along this road of more than 3km. ”There is work on the left lane in the section between Wied tal-Grazzja to Ta’ Mena and work is also underway on the two lanes from the Marsalforn Valley diversion to the Reef Hotel. ”

He concluded by saying that ”we will be laying the first layer of tarmac in these areas in the coming weeks as the road reconstruction and installation of new services is at an advanced stage. While this work is being carried out, works related to changes and installation of new services that have been requested by various entities are also being carried out.”
