The Superintendent of Public Health issued a warning on Sunday about the dangers posed by the extreme heat during traditional marches and outdoor festivities.
The Superintendent said that although village feasts hold ”significant cultural and community value, they also heighten health risks, in particular during outdoor events such as midday marches, processions, band parades and other celebrations.
In a statement, feast organisers are being urged to ”reassess their plans and introduce measures to mitigate heat-related risks for participants, volunteers and spectators.”
In Gozo, the feast being celebrated today is in Victoria, for St George.
