A delegation from the Gozo Business Chamber recently met with the Minister for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, Miriam Dalli.
The Chamber was represented by President Michael Galea, Vice President Joseph Borg, Vice President Perit Edward Scerri and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Borg.
The GBC explained that the meeting focused on the importance of continuing to strengthen Gozo’s energy, water and environmental infrastructure in a manner that supports the diversification of the Gozitan economy, new investment and higher-value employment opportunities.
The discussion also covered accessibility and the potential port electrification, the resilience of the energy supply, the green transition and Gozo’s path towards climate neutrality.
The Gozo Chamber said that ”against the backdrop of exceptionally high temperatures and increased demand for electricity, the meeting further highlighted the need for long-term planning, continued investment and resilient infrastructure capable of meeting Gozo’s present and future needs.”
The Gozo Business Chamber concluded by saying that it will ”continue to communicate the realities and priorities of Gozitan businesses and to work constructively with Government and the relevant entities so that Gozo’s needs are reflected in the development and implementation of national policy.”
