The second team of twenty Civil Protection Malta firefighters has arrived in Portugal to assist with fighting wildfires.
CPD firefighters have now joined the Forca Especial de Protecao Civil, supporting ongoing wildfire preparedness and response operations.
The deployment forms part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism’s wildfire pre-positioning programme, coordinated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).
The Civil Protection Department wished the firefighters well for a safe deployment ”as they continue to represent Malta with dedication, professionalism and a strong commitment to European solidarity.”
