A 28-year old Albanian man living in Victoria, Gozo, sustained serious injuries after falling about one and a half storeys while working on a site in Xaghra.

Police said that the incident happened at around 10,30am in Triq it-Tigrija.

First assistance was given by a medical team from Gozo General Hospital at the scene before he was taken to the Hospital where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.

Due to the extent of his injuries he was transferred by helicopter to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.

Magistrate Monica Vella has opened an inquiry.

Investigations are ongoing, led by the police, together with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority and the Building and Construction Authority.
