A new wellbeing service is being offered at Dar Manresa in Victoria, Gozo,by the Diocese of Gozo, in collaboration with Caritas (Gozo).
This service is intended particularly for individuals who are currently facing, or have previously faced, mental health challenges, as well as for those experiencing loneliness, The Gozo Diocese said in a statement on Saturday.
It added that this new service was launched in response to the need for a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for anyone who values their wellbeing, wishes to make new friends, and desires to participate in educational, social, and cultural activities.
The service offers opportunities for participants to spend time in the company of others, share their experiences, discover common interests, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the community.
The Diocese of Gozo explained that the aim is to foster mutual respect and support, ensuring that every individual feels welcomed, heard, and appreciated. Activities include art, music, creative work, cooking, exercise, walking, gardening, relaxation sessions, and learning practical life skills, as well as outings and community-based activities.
Participants are encouraged to engage according to their own interests, skills, and pace, within an environment that fosters well-being and social interaction.
The service is led by professional Jeanette Falzon, who welcomes and accompanies participants while encouraging them to develop their capabilities, the Diocese of Gozo.
The service operates on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:30am to 4:30 pm, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Those interested in using the service may contact Caritas (Gozo) by calling 21551723 or 79771723.
The Diocese concluded by saying that throughout the month of October, Pope Francis is inviting all Christians to join in his prayer intention for those facing mental health challenges and for the mental health ministry.
