The announcement of the introduction of a fast ferry service between Valletta and Mgarr in Gozo has also been welcomed by the Gozo Tourism Association.

The Association in a statement said that, the introduction of this long-awaited service as of the 1st of June is another means of sea transport and “it will definitely further enhance the inter-island connectivity.”

The Gozo Tourism Association said that it believes in different modes of inter-island connections and therefore this service will be offering another direct alternative sea-link to Gozo via Valletta in a relatively quicker time.

“This service will appeal not only to the Gozitans who will use it for the daily commuting but it can be another means of a fast crossing to Gozo both for the domestic market and Malta based tourist, The Association concluded.

Unless this service is limited at peak times to holders of Goziten residence cards it will be swamped by tourists together with the usual influx of residents of Malta at the weekend.
Also is it just going to be a free for all service where there are boats turning up from different operators at all sorts of times or is there going to be a fixed timetable with fixed prices?

What it means is that the Covid virus will be able to get to Gozo faster than it is getting here already.
