A collection of sixty artistic works are currently being displayed at the Exhibition Hall, at the Centre for Culture and Arts, The Citadel, Victoria, Gozo. The exhibition has been organised by the Foreign Cultural Relations Bureau within the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China, in collaboration with the Chinese Cultural Centre in Malta.
The Collection of oil paintings of Chinese students, is a contemporaray exhibition of works in oil produced by students of the arts who have graduated from several prestigious academies of arts in China. The aim is to raise awareness about the development of oil painting in this country and shows how contemporary Chinese art painted with this technique is the result of a change in traditional cultures, or having merged with foreign ideas. It demonstrates how the creations of these students reflect the tradition of how the arts have developed in their country.
This exhibition is travelling to several countries around the world where there are established embassies or cultural centers of the Republic of China. From Gozo the exhibition is expected to go to other countries including Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.
Frederick Azzopardi, Parliamentary Assistant within the Ministry for Gozo, visited the exhibition on behalf of the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, where he was welcomed by the Chinese Cultural Attaché in Malta, Zheng Hao.
