Wirt Ghawdex has said that while agreeing wholly with MEPA’s decision to refuse the application to sanction a number of boathouse owners in the Inland Sea area of Dwejra, cannot but point out the inconsistency of the same authority which, only a few days later, approved the amended application of the so-called ‘interpretation centre’ which is a much more intrusive structure than the boat houses. Being an outside development zone (ODZ), no new building whatsoever should have been allowed in such a sensitive ecological site.

The NGO went on to say that it fully understands Nature Trust’s decision to disassociate itself from the Heritage Park Project since their position had become untenable.

Wirt Ghawdex concluded by saying, “One wonders what will now happen to the Heritage Park at Dwejra, as conceived by Nature Trust in 2004.”
