Heritage Malta will be organising a Heritage Trail focusing on the Great Siege of 1565 On Sunday 27th June. The event will be a boat trip around the harbours on the two sides of the Valletta peninsula.
Participants will experience the emotions of the protagonists of that memorable event during which the outnumbered defenders of Malta resisted several months of siege and bombardment by Turkish soldiers. The participants will be given information about the harbour fortifications and the episodes that made this siege one of Malta’s most significant events.
The tour will include the Malta Maritime Museum where the participants will be able to get to know more about Malta’s maritime history.
The tour will depart from the Vittoriosa Waterfront at 9.30hrs and return to the Malta Maritime Museum at 11.30hrs in time for a coffee break on the terrace overlooking the waterfront. This will be followed by a tour of the museum section dedicated to the Knights of St John. The heritage trail will be guided by Mr Vince Zammit. The tour ends at 13.00hrs.
