Students and parents from Nadur & Xewkija tour Comino

A group of approximately one hundred students and parents took part in a tour of Comino, organised by the Section of Special Activities within the Gozo College in collaboration with Eco-Gozo.

This activity, which was attended by students from primary schools in Nadur and Xewkija, included a trip by ferry from Mgarr to Comino, with a walk around the island. The group visited the Chapel of Comino, the few farmers who were living on the island at that time, dedicated the chapel to a joyful moment of the Virgin Mary’s life, Her Return from Egypt. the group also received information about the chapel’s history. Later, students and parents visited the beach of Santa Marija and the Santa Marija Tower which was built in 1618 by the Knights of St John under the leadership of Grandmaster Wignacourt.

The tour ended with a visit to the ruins of the old school, the hospital and the old bakery
