The Musical Society ‘Ite Ad Joseph’ – Qala AD. 1996 will be celebrating the15th anniversary from the inauguration of the band in 2010, as well as during the next year,. The band was officially and legally set up on the 8th December 1996. Besides celebrating its 15th anniversary, Ite Ad Joseph – Qala is commemorating another two important events: the 1st anniversary from the appointment of Mro. Antoine Mercieca as the 4th Musical Director of our band and the 140th Anniversary since the Blessed Pope Pius IX solemnly proclaimed St Joseph as the Patron Saint of the Roman Catholic Church on the 8th December 1870 in Rome, through the decree “Quemadmodum Deus.”

On the occasion of the feast in honour of St. Joseph which will be celebrated on the1st of August 2010, at the Qala Parish Church, the Musical Society ‘Ite Ad Joseph’ – Qala will be releasing a new CD of band marches and hymns in honour of the Saint, all of which have been composed by the young and talented Musical Director, Mro. Antoine Mercieca.

February 2009 will always be remembered as the month in which new hope sprang once more for our dear band just like flowers burst open and beautify our gardens in the Spring season. February marks a new musical season in the history of our Musical Society and with it, a change in its own life and in the life of its bandsmen. February is the month which marks the arrival of Musical Director Antoine Mercieca in our midst. In the short period since his appointment, Musical Director Antoine Mercieca has succeeded in releasing a set of marches whose joyous melody cheers all those who follow the band and delights the very same bandsmen. It is only reasonable that many have commented positively about the venture since of late, we have all witnessed a new communal and musical revival and interest in our dear band.

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary from the inauguration of the Musical Society ‘Ite Ad Joseph’ – Qala, a sub-committee -“Kumitat Celebrazzjonijiet 15 -il Sena Banda”- forming part of the executive committee has been set up in order to organise the musical, social, cultural, recreational and philanthropic activities being held during the period of festivities commencing on the 4th July 2010 and coming to an end on the 8th December 2011. The members forming part of this committee -“Kumitat Celebrazzjonijiet 15 – il Sena Banda” are:

The festive celebrations will commence on Sunday, the 4th of July 2010, with the launching of the new CD of marches and hymns dedicated to St. Joseph especially composed for the year 2010, at the band club ‘Ite Ad Joseph’ – Qala, 12, Pjazza San Guzepp, Qala – Gozo. The activity will start at 11.00am with a special programme purposely prepared for this occasion in which the “Kumitat Celebrazzjonijiet 15 – il Sena Banda” will start functioning.
