Raymond Abela, aged 43, was today granted bail at the Gozo Magistrates Court, after he had been accused of assulting policemen in two separate incidents that took place on the same day.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the offences which took place in Victoria and Marsalforn, on June the 5th. In Victoria he allegedly threatened, resisted arrest and assulted police officers, also causing some damage to property. Later on the same day in Marsalforn he was said to have made an attempt to throw a large sized stone at two police offers, as well as again threatening and resisting them.

The man was granted the bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000. Inspector Josric Mifsud led the prosecution.
