Triq Santa Marija, which runs along Qbajjar in Marsalforn, has been resurfaced. Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri visited the road which was completed at a cost of around €150,000, and said that “residents and visitors to the area now have a road in good repair as is deserved.”
He said that “Triq Santa Marija had been long forgotten and had been in need of infrastructural intervention for years, with the result that it was allowed to deteriorate, ending up in a bad state of repair.”
He explained how this Government is “committed to continuing to give life to the tourist area of Marsalforn.”
He said that the Marsalforn waterfront masterplan, with an investment of €3 million, includes lava porphyry paving of Triq il-Port, Triq il-Forn, Triq San Guzepp, Triq ir-Rabat and Sir Michelangelo Refalo Square as well as the installation of new lighting and street furniture to give the area a “contemporary look.”
He reminded that as soon as the Menqa in Marsalforn was completed, the regeneration of the Marsalforn waterfront started. He promised that this project will be completed before the summer season.
The Minister for Gozo concluded by saying that “the roads leading to this area, two roads connecting Marsalforn beach with the rest of Gozo, are being repaired, and in fact the reconstruction of the road leading from Victoria to Marsalforn will soon begin as well as the road leading from Xaghra to Marsalforn, with another global investment of around €10 million.”
