Premier League reaffirms GO’s exclusivity of English football

GO has said that with the kick off of the 2010/11 football season taking place today, the England’s Barclays Premier League will once again bring to Maltese television the excitement of the best league in the world thanks to its partnership with GO.

The Premier League has expressed its satisfaction in having a new partner in GO within the Maltese territory for the exclusive live transmission of the Barclays Premier League. In addition, GO has the exclusive rights of the Italian Serie A starting later on 28 August, GO said.

Paul Molnar, Head of International Broadcasting and Media Operations of the Premier League, said, “The Premier League is excited to have a new partner in GO within the Maltese territory. The Premier League enjoys an excellent relationship with GO and is confident that Barclays Premier League fans in Malta will enjoy the best possible coverage of the most exciting league in the world.”

Mr Molnar added: “The Premier League reaffirms that GO is the only TV broadcaster in Malta with exclusive live rights to the league starting 14 August, for the next 3 seasons ending May 2013.”

He praised GO for its strong commitment to the Premier League and noted GO’s recent announcements related to the investment in the tv network, state-of-the-art headend and playout facilities.

Talking about the next season, Mr Molnar said, “We remain committed to putting on the best possible show, in top stadia with full attendance and the best playing talent on the pitch. This will ensure that GO gets full value from the rights offering and its subscribers enjoy the same quality of football from the Barclays Premier League as they have enjoyed in recent seasons.”

“The Premier League will continue offering the highest possible quality of match coverage with strong production values through all of our live match and magazine programming,” he added.

GO’s Chief Executive Officer David Kay thanked Mr Molnar for his comments and added that GO is totally committed to give its GO sports customers the best level of service, viewing experience and customer care.

“We look forward to the start of the season. Last weekend, we gave all our tv customers a flavour of what GO sports is all about – with a full weekend of free viewing including the Community Shield match between Chelsea and Manchester United. As from this weekend up until May, GO sports customers will enjoy every minute of action of the best international sports live and exclusive,” Mr Kay said.

GO said that currently, football lovers who subscribe to GO sports have the unique chance of participating in a competition to win two match tickets of their choice – either for the Barclays Premier League or Italian Serie A for season 2010/11. Besides the football match tickets, the prize covers free airline tickets, including taxes and fuel charges, for two persons and free accommodation – also for two – with a maximum of two-night stays.The competition is open to both new and existing customers who subscribe to the GO sports Premium monthly and/or yearly package before the 31 August 2010.
