Collectors for the British Legion Annual Poppy Appeal will be out and about, and also on the ferries, from now until Remembrance Day.

The aim of this fund raising activity is the relief of hardship and distress of all ex-servicemen and their families. Amongst us there are still very many war victims and their dependants facing need from the infirmities of old age.

It is very important for you to know that that all monies collected here remain in the Maltese Islands, for the benefit of these families.

Last year, through public generosity, they collected 21,000 Euros in the Islands and gave out over 60,000 Euros in assistance, the balance being supplied from other Services Benevolent Funds in the UK.

We should all wear our poppy with pride to remind us of the gallant men and women who fought, suffered and died for our country.

Please give generously.

Is it true that Remembrance Day on Gozo will be 11th November whichever day it falls? Will the market area be cleared on Thursday for the ceremony?
