The funeral arrangements of Bishop Emeritus H.L. Mgr Nikol J. Cauchi, have now been announced.

The funeral will take place at the Gozo Cathedral, tomorrow, Wednesday, the 17th of November at 3.30pm..

Bishop Emeritus H.L. Mgr Nikol J. Cauchi passed away yesterday morning at the Mater Dei Hospital at the age of 81.

The schedule for the funeral is as follows:

Tuesday the 16th of November

12.30: Departure of the cortege from the Mater Dei Hospital traveling through Mosta, Burmarrad, St. Paul’s Bay and Mellieha.
13.30: Departure from Marfa with a patrol boat of the Armed Forces of Malta.
14.00: The coffin of Bishop Cauchi arrives at Mgarr and the cortege will then travel to Gharb Square.
15.00: Arrival at Gharb Square and the Basilica. There are moments of prayer following which Mons. Bishop Cauchi will lie in state.
16.30: Departure from Gharb Church
17.00: The cortege will arrive at the Gozo Curia where Bishop Cauchi will lie in state.
17.15: Priests recital of the Rosary.
18.00: Public worship begins.
21.00: Vigil of prayer, led by Bishop Mgr Mario Grech.
22.30: Prayer in silence.

Wednesday the 17th of November

8:30: Morning prayer by priests .
09:00: Start of public worship.
13.00: End of lying in state.
14.30: Arrival of Nunzju Apostolic and Bishops.
14.40: Arrival of the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Joseph Muscat.
14.45: Arrival of the Prime Minister, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi.
14.50: Arrival of the President of the Republic, HE Dr. George Abela.
15.00: Funeral cortege arrives at the Cathedral.
15:30: High Mass at the Cathedral led by Bishop Mario Grech.

A private burial will follow.
