Independent inquiry to be launched into MEPA proceeduresThe Parliamentary Secretary, Mario de Marco, has said that independent inquiry is to be launched to investigate the proceedures that MEPA carries out when requests for filming are received in areas that are known to be sites of a sensitive nature.

The Parliamentary Secretary had paid a visit to Dwejra on Wednesday to inspect the work that is being carried out at the moment.

A statement by the the Secretariat for Tourism and the Environment, it said that a report will be drawn up by the MEPA audit officer into the large quantity of sand that had been dumped over a vast area of Dwejra. All the information needed for this to be carried out had been given to the authority. MEPA is following all the clean-up operations.

      MEPA have let this environmental rape take place… trying to ease unscrupulous developers… while making their utmost to hamper, block and frustrate those honest, hard-working young couples who are trying to build a home for their family.

      Someone must be held accountable for these crimes.
