The Prime Minister, Lawrence Gonzi, has inaugurated the Gozo College Boys’ Secondary School, also present for the occassion were the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, and Cristina Dolores, the Minister of Education, Employment and the Familily.

The new facilities include forty-five classrooms, nine science laboratories, three food-laboratories, a textile room, three design and technology workshops, a classroom for teaching the arts, a library and facilities for the teaching of physical education. Other rooms include a clinic and one that will be used as a counseling room for students as well as for meetings with parents.

The new school offers space for social and educational activities in a spacious lounge located on the third floor of the school. Other areas are available for the use of teachers and the school administrators. The lifts that have been installed will provide easy accessibility to all of the facilities in the new school. The parking area can accommodate around 120 vehicles.

The facilities of the new school will be utilising state-of-the-art technology, including solar energy, and other initiatives such as sun pipes, the use of double glazing and insulation, using established practices to achieve a reduction of 20 percent in emissions of carbon dioxide.
