€100,000 was the sum presented to L-Istrina by Bank of Valletta through the BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign 2010.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Bank of Valletta has teamed up with the Malta Community Chest fund in a nation-wide drive to collect funds for Istrina. Over 7,000 piggy banks were distributed in a campaign that saw the participation of all schools around Malta and Gozo as well as a number of retail outlets. Large piggy Banks were placed in popular shopping centres to give the public an opportunity to participate in this initiative.

The BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank campaign 2010 raised a total of €53,020.80, the highest amount collected to date over the last seven years. This was topped up by Bank of Valletta to present a final cheque of €100,000. Michael Galea, Chief Officer Operations, accompanied by BOV Staff members and children holding piggy banks used in this campaign presented the funds to H.E. Dr George Abela and Mrs Abela during the live presentation of L-Istrina held on Boxing day.

Over €420,000 have been presented to L-Istrina through the BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank campaign since its inception in 2004.
