Heritage Malta is once again organising a guided tour of the Mnajdra Temples on Sunday the 20th and Monday the 21st of March to mark the spring equinox.

Sunrise on the first day of each season underlines the relationship between the temples and celestial bodies. Although it is not known for certain whether these orientations were intentional, they are so systematic that this is very probable. In prehistoric agricultural societies, observation of the motion of the stars, the moon and sun could have been related to the changing seasons and times of planting and harvesting crops.

Tickets for the equinox event at Mnajdra Temples are Euro 15.00 per person and Euro 10.00 for Heritage Malta and ICOM members and are available strictly on a first come first served basis. Tickets may be bought from all Heritage Malta sites and museums in Malta and Gozo.

In a bid to provide an enhanced experience to visitors, only 40 visitors will be allowed during the event. The organized meeting point will be at 5.15hrs next to the Hagar Qim main entrance.
