The Leone Band has been invited to put up a ‘best-of’ version of its pop concerts during Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana, this coming Friday, the 3rd of June 2011, in St Augustine’s Square Victoria, between 10pm and 11pm. The Leone Band assumed this service, partly as a sign of appreciation towards the general public, who was so generous with its constant unfaltering support and loyalty.
This Friday, the Leone Band will regale it’s audience with the best of the past 3 editions, including the nationwide celebrated The Best of The Tramps featuring Inti Djamant, Sinjur Gib il-Paci and Xemx by Dominic Grech and The Tramps. Assistant Conductor Josef Debrincat will be directing numbers in both concerts.
Then, just 4 days later, the Leone Band will then present a fully fledged new edition of Leone Goes Pop with no less than 18 different new numbers. Having had dancers, comics, actors, all kinds of lighting and special effects, as well as a life-size boat as part of the show, the audience is left to wonder what lies in store. The repertoire will pop from Beethoven to Lady Gaga. It will be a living time- machine that sways the audience back and forth through the decades.
The Leone Band will take a more central role in the entertainment of the night, redefining the role of civic bands in the local concert scene. The production can only promise that in won’t be only the dancers that will be dancing the night away. There will be music of the future and music of the past to provide a particularly distinctive appeal to the cross-generational audience that normally graces Victoria’s main square
The best of previous Leone-Goes-Pop’s will be held in St Augustine’s Square, Victoria, on Friday 3rd June 2011 starting at 10pm, directed by Colin Attard, as part of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana. Entrance is free of charge.
Leone Goes Pop 4th edition will be held in It-Tokk, Victoria, on Tuesday, the 7th of June 2011, starting at 8.30pm, hosted by Carlo Borg Bonaci and directed by Colin Attard. It will be supported by the Victoria Local Council, Cisk and Citadel Insurance. Entrance is also free of charge.
