The culmination of events organised to celebrate Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana 2011, was the performance Celebrate Gozo held on Saturday evening, a walk through the history and traditions of Gozo from Ggantija to the present, with the participation of hundreds of people, to the delight of the crowds who had assembled to watch in Republic Street, Victoria.
Celebrate Gozo, with the participation of the Moveo Dance Company, included parades, live music, lots of costumes and pageantry, with choreography by Dorian Mallia under the artistic co-ordination of George Mizzi.
Once again, Victoria was a hive of activities, with museums and places of interest open to the public, dancing, children’s attractions, traditional gastronomy and wine, several choral and music concerts to suit all tastes, with revelry going on until the early hours of Sunday.
5 Tons Less of CO2 came to a successful conclusion with hundreds of families taking up the challenge and visiting the five locations around Victoria to collect stamps and demonstration their contribution to a cleaner environment.
The Ministry for Gozo expressed satisfaction with the proceedings and at the healthy turnout, as in the past five editions of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana.
