The Government has said that in relation to the statement issued today by the European Commission “in relation to the alleged non-transposition into national law of the Directive on the protection of the environment through criminal law (2008/99/EC). It is in the process of transposing the provisions of the Directive on the protection of the environment through criminal law into Maltese legislation by means of amendments to the Criminal Code.”

The Governement concluded by saying that “the amendments have been drafted and will be debated in Parliament in the near future.”
