Gaddafi’s compound in Tripoli has been taken over by the Libyan rebels who breached its defences from both the North and South following a day of fierce fighting. Once inside the compound there were reports of little resistance from Gaddafi’s supporters and there was no sign of the former Libyan leader, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The compound, which had been the symbol of Gaddafi’s regime, now has the National Transitional Council flag, which was raised by the Libyan rebel forces, flying from the top of the building.
