Local Councils have built more than 200 residential roadsMore than 200 residential roads have been re-built by Local Councils during the past 13 months. The works include the laying of new services and re-surfacing.

More residential roads in various localities are under construction as other public calls for tender were issued by Local Councils during the last few weeks. The re-construction of these roads is being financed through various schemes administered by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Councils.

Details were given during a site visit by Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said and Mayor Ian Castaldi Paris in Annibale Preca Street, Hal Lija. This is the last of three residential roads to be re-built in Hal Lija. Transfiguration Avenue and Robert Mifsud Bonnici Street were completed earlier this year.

Mayor Ian Castaldi Paris stated that the re-building of these roads in Hal Lija would not have been possible without the Public Private Partnership scheme.

Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said gave details about the localities were works have been concluded or have proceeded at a very fast pace. These include Swieqi (Madliena), Mqabba, Gharghur, Had Dingli, Hal Lija, Hal Kirkop, Birkirkara, Nadur, Naxxar, Xaghra, GSira, Hal Qormi and Ghajnsielem. In Hal Ghaxaq, St. Paul’s Bay and HaS sebbua works have kicked off and are running according to schedule.
