A 45-year old Russian crewman was earlier this afternoon medically evacuated from his vessel to hospital, after suffering a heart attack.

The Moscow born seaman was transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by an Armed Forces of Malta rescue helicopter, from his ship whilst it was in a position some 18 nautical miles from Delimara Point, whilst anchored on the Hurd Bank.

The casualty was on board the Liberian registered oil tanker MT “Transsib Bridge,” which was navigating to Malta from Las Palmas.
