September’s industrial production decreased by 3.3%

Provisional data from the National Statistics Office shows that in September, industrial production decreased by 3.3 per cent from 104.1 points in September of the previous year. Intermediate goods fell by 7.7 per cent, while capital and consumer goods fell by 1.1 and 1.0 per cent respectively. On the other hand, the production of energy rose by 6.3 per cent.
At the NACE division level, the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, declined by 11.0 per cent. Other declines were registered in the manufacture of food products, manufacture of textiles, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations and repair and installation of machinery and equipment. Conversely, the manufacture of wearing apparel, the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, other manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and water collection, treatment and supply registered notable increases when compared to the corresponding month in 2010.
