The Xaghra Local Council sorrowly announces the demise of ex-Mayor Joseph Grima who served as Mayor of Xaghra between April 1996 and March 1998. Mr. Grima is also an honorary bandsman of the Victory Philharmonic Society of Xaghra. His demise took place on Thursday 10th November 2011 at Mater Dei Hospital conforted with the last holy rites aged 82 years.

The funeral of Mr. Joseph Grima will be held on Tuesday, the 15th of November 2011 according to this programme:

2.45pm: The funerary cortege leaves Gozo General Hospital and stops in front of the Victory Band Club where the coffin will be welcomed by the President and Secretary of the same musical society.

3.00pm: Funeral cortege to the Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady in Xaghra accompanied by the Victory Band playing funeral band marches.

4.00pm: Solemn praesente cadavere mass at the Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady in Xaghra led by Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo together with the Reverend Chapter and Clergy of Xaghra Collegiate Church.

Mass will be followed by private interment at Xaghra Parish cemetery.

The Xaghra Local Council expresses its condolescences with the Grima family and encourages the Xaghra people to remember the ex-Mayor in their prayers.
