The ‘Ghaqda ‘Il-Milied fix-Xaghra’ (Christmas in Xaghra Society) would like to remind everyone that it is organising a seminar about the tradition of the Nativity Scene this coming Sunday, the 27th of November, at 9.30am. The seminar is going to be held at the Xaghra Youth Centre, 28th April 1688 Str, Xaghra near the main Square.

This year artist Paul Stellini will demonstrate how to construct and paint features in the Christmas nativity scene using recycled expanded polystyrene and plaster.

An informative handout about various designs and studies about the biblical style of crib building and information about the biblical archaeology and architecture at the time of Christ’s birth will also be given to the participants.

The ‘Ghaqda Il-Milied fix-Xaghra’ is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year. The main aim of this organisation’s foundation back in 2004 was to promote and better organise the celebrations related to Christmas in Xaghra and to see that cultural, religious and folkloristic Christmas traditions are well encouraged and promoted to preserve the island’s heritage and identity .

This year 14 mechanical and static artistic cribs together with a Live Nativity Scene will all be on show all in Xaghra.
