Over the past week, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, who is also responsible for hunting and trapping, had two meetings with a delegation from the Council of the FKNK hunters’ federation at the Ministry in Gozo.
FKNK said that the two sides discussed various matters related to hunting and trapping. “In particular, long discussions were held regarding a turtle dove hunting season for this September and the songbird research project this autumn.”
“It was agreed how these could both be carried out by hunters and trappers in a legal, but also practical way, and how the data reported by hunters and trappers during these seasons will continue to contribute to proof of sustainability of both practices,” the FKNK said.
The federation advised that officials from the Ministry and from the WBRU section were also present in one of the meetings.
Last November, the European Commission announced that it would be taking Malta to the European Court of Justice over finch trapping.

. . . is this the text from last year ?
Sounds no differend .
Nothing about all the ILLEGAL Hunting in there statement .
How long it will take to stop them for all time .
May when this persons on the picture are stuffed on a stone ?
Perhaps the European commission should take Malta to the european Court of justice over the needless slaughter of the protected black kites and the purple herons that they have killed in the last week.
So it is simply a meeting between themselves as they all shoot birds, hardly ‘hunters’! That implies they stalk their prey when this lot just hide and then shoot anything that moves.
