The Civil Protection Department has issued a further statement this afternoon, advising that weather information suggests the heavy rain will continue for some time, possibly through the night, over various parts of the Maltese Islands.

Therefore, the Department advises the public to always avoid low-lying areas that are prone to flooding and drivers should drive cautiously in the poor visibility. The Department also said that vehicles should not be parked where there is a chance that they could be carried by flooding water.
