A man from Kalkara was arrested on board the Gozo ferry yesterday after he was identified as the suspected burglar of a shop in Fortunato Mizzi street in Victoria.
It is believed that the man, Rodney Vella, aged 28, was fleeing back to Malta after he had broken into the shop in Fortunato Mizzi street and stolen €3000. He was observed by a passer-by who then helped the police to identify him on the ferry.
The 28 year-old was arraigned in court this morning charged with burglary. He was later released on a personal guarantee of €2000.
Superintendent Antonello Grech led the prosecution.
