Frangisku Cauchi, known as Cikku tan-Namrat and born in Gharb, is celebrating his103rd birthday today.
Frangisku is the Son of Guzeppi and Marija Roza Cauchi. He was the 3rd child of 7 and was married to Marija nee Micallef. Frangisku.
Frangisku and Marija had eleven children, three of whom died at a young age. His eldest son is a missionary priest in Brazil.
Frangisku has fifteen grandchildren, the oldest are Miriam Cauchi, the soprano and Fr. Alex who is also in Brazil. He has another grandson who is also a priest, this time in Canada, Fr. Christopher Cauchi. Frangisku has two great grandchildren, Clara and Gabriel.
Cikku was a sacristan at Gharb Parish Church with Guzeppi Cauchi, the father of Bishop Cauchi who died nearly two months ago. He later became a tractor driver with the public works department, mainly working on construction of the roads. He also used to work at home in “il-mithna” and when the sanctuary of Ta Pinu was under construction Cikku worked there as a voluntary worker and fondly remembers Karmni Grima taking the Mass in Gharb Parish Church.
Cikku is now unwell in bed, but still likes to reminisce about old times and.
He is also a great grandad of 5 month old baby Luke :-)…Happy Birthday Grandad! xxx

Many happy returns Cikku from Canada . May father used to live with Joe Grima also from Gharb, and Joe Grima and Karmni Grima were related together . Joe Grima lived in Detroit with my Father for a long time in Detroit .My father nick name was KARMNU TA SAN GORG Mix- Xaghra . We knew Joe Grima for many years in Detroit ,But he passed away long time ago .He was about your Age CIK ,or little bit older . My Wife and I wish you GOOD HEALTH and LONG LIFE CIKKU .. PS you look very much like JOE GRIMA , and your face remind me of him .. May the Lord be beside you all the time , and give you OMOR TWILL CIKKU .
