The Gozo SPCA need help in finding the owner of these two lovely dogs. “They were first seen heading uphill from Mgarr harbour early on Sunday evening, they came past the Grand Hotel and then attached themselves to an English gentleman who was out running. They would not leave him and stayed with him until he reached home in Qala, having run all the way.” The gentleman contacted the Gozo SPCA to advise them of the situation, because of the bad weather he allowed them to stay in his house overnight, having also reported them to the police. Both dogs are wearing collars and are in good condition.
The large dog, which is probably a Labrador X, is a neutered male and had been micro chipped, however the smaller black and white fox terrier X is not chipped, “although Peter our Animal Welfare Officer, who checked them thinks she may be spayed. The problem is that the chip is not registered on the MVA data base. Our vet has checked his personal records of chipping and came up with nothing.”
The Gozo SPCA said that “there is a possibility that the dogs came from Malta. Our only hope now is to see if any anybody recognises these dogs and can identify the micro chip number, which is 939000010068007.”
“These people, have been so kind in helping look after them, but cannot keep the dogs beyond Thursday and we have no space for a dog this size and it would seem that they should remain together, the Gozo SPCA concluded.

The problem would`ve been solved in no time IF THE DOG HAD A REGISTRATION TAG WITH IT`S NAME, BREED AND OWNER`S TEL. No. attached to it`s collar. It`s about time Malta takes a leaf out of Australia`s local bylaws or any other civilised country, regarding the management of pets. You don`t see dogs or cats roaming the streets in Australia. Lucky for them befriending a good british gentleman, otherwise they would`ve probably ended crucified or butchered and lucky for him the dogs weren`t aggressive. But this is Malta! A leopard never changes it`s spots. I said it over and over previously, a heavy media blitz might educate the maltese. Take note Ms.Berry
