Series of road works completed by Xaghra Local CouncilThe Xaghra Local Council has finalised a road asphalting project in George Mc Adam, Dun Vincenz Cauchi, Mikelang Pace and Ghajn Lukin Street which together form the housing estate in Church Street, the road which leads from Xaghra Parish Church to the Xaghra Parish Cemetery.

The Council said that “these works took longer than expected as the contractor had to carry out more urgent work in Victoria.

“The asphalting work carried out on these streets compliments the similar work that was done in 2010 and 2011 on the first part of Gnien Imrik Street, Patri Mattew Sultana Street and Vestru Street.

“The project is being financed by the Public Private Partnership Scheme under which the previous Council has applied and received funds. The final road which is still to be asphalted through funds under this scheme is the first part of Marsalforn Road. This is one of the main infrastructural projects which the Council is going to undertake during this legislature.”

“We are certain that the asphalting works in the housing estate of Church Street will definitely help to ameliorate the quality of those roads, which have now been transformed from disaster areas to well-built roads, for the benefit of the residents,” the Council concluded.
