‘Gozo – 10 – Great Walks’ is the title of a new book which was presented to the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono today, by the authors Jonathan Henwood and Emmet McMahon, who also wrote Malta: 10 Great Walks.
The Minister said that lovers of walking will now have the opportunity to experience Gozo from a more personal perspective. The book visits rural areas, town centres and heritage sites as well as the coastal environment.
The walks described in the book are, Mgarr and the South Coast, Ta’ Cenc Clifs and Xlendi Bay, The Azure Window and Inland Sea, The Wild Northwest Coast and Valleys, The Saltpans of Gozo, Megalithic Temples and Ramla Bay, Nadur and its Bays, The East Coast and Qala, The Island of Comino and The Round Gozo Coastal Walk. The last chapter deals with a walk around the coast of the island passing by cliffs, valleys, villages, ancient monuments and sandy beaches.
The Minister said that this initiative is in line with the work of the Ministry for Gozo to achieve higher standards of sustainability in Gozo through the eco-Gozo project, as well as the niche market strategy of tourism . She added that in light of the fact that Gozo is becoming more sought after as a rural destination, this publication will result in being an important tool to promote Gozo as a destination that attracts tourists, such as trekkers and ramblers, who like to walk in the countryside and along the coastal paths.
Gozo – 10 – Great Walks also includes sections on the history, geology, and wildlife of Malta and Gozo so that you get a fuller understanding and appreciation of the many fascinating aspects of its environment and culture. It also provides details on practical aspects such as weather, safety, buses, ferries and accommodation.
Each walk is of moderate length, approximately 4-5 hours and most can be extended or shortened to suit individual tastes. They will go through a variety of landscapes and features of historical, environmental and cultural interest. The routes listed in the booklet by maps can also be followed using public transport or means other than walking.
The books are available for sale at good booksellers throughout Malta and Gozo at a price of €7.99. The Malta book of walks is available for purchase as an electronic (PDF) copy at a cost of €5, which is available on this link.
Secure payment can be made by credit card via Paypal by using the link. E-Book is published by Envirotrain.

Very good ! We need more tourists for the natural holiday .
Hopefully the farmers will respect this project .
Great !
Is it already for sale ? And where is it available
This is a great opportunity for Eco Gozo to clearly mark and maintain those trails!
They did something similar in Dominica ,the Waitikubuli Trail
That trail is beatyfull marked and there are display panels about the fauna and flora
Also they put some shelters and picnic zones in

Thank you for your comments about our book. Enjoy walking:)
Well done Mr Henwood .We need more people like you to show the beauty that we got and what we tend to loose should speculative projects go ahead like Ramla and Hondoq
