GO said in a statement this evening that the damage to one of its submarine cables between Malta and Sicily was caused by a third party.
The company said that work has been underway to repair the damage since yesterday evening and a technical team from Go is in Sicily to speed up the process.
GO said that at the first indication of a problem with the international submarine cable, action was taken to route internet traffic to the second cable to minimise the impact.
GO said that its technical teams are doing everything possible to recitfy the fault as quickly as possible.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and said it would like to “reassure our customers that everything possible is being done to rectify the situation in the shortest time possible.”
