The Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (FKNK) said this morning that it has drawn up a report regarding the April 2012 derogation allowing the limited sustainable hunting of turtle doves and quails in small numbers.
FKNK said that the report “provides a detailed assessment showing that the binding derogation conditions were in practice fully respected, in accordance with the requirements of the ‘Birds’ Directive.”
“Aware that FKNK reports submitted in previous years, and even recommendations made by the Malta Ornis Committee, never reached the Commission, the Federation has submitted its report this time to the EU Commission for the Environment directly,” FKNK said.
At the same time, a copy of the FKNK report has been forwarded to the Maltese authorities.
