In the second quarter of 2012, sea transport between Malta and Gozo registered decreases in vehicles, commuters and trips, when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2011.
Commuters travelling between Malta and Gozo decreased by 1.6 per cent, with a total of 1,079,367 making the crossing.
The number of vehicles carried by scheduled vessels went down by 4 per cent, with a total of 274,123 vehicles.
The majority of trips took place in June, with a total of 1,610 trips, representing 33.9 per cent of the total trips for this quarter.
The highest number of commuters was also recorded in June, with a total of 367,140, which represented 34 per cent of the total for the quarter.
The total number of trips in the period under review stood at 4,742, a decrease of 1.6 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
Yes. This was expected due to the fact that Gozitans are not going to Malta, not even for shopping in Valletta or Sliema due to the complete mess caused by Arriva and its agent TM.
Buses are no longer coordinated with the ferries
Buses stop more frequently to pick other people from other bus stops every few metres. See the Mellieha bus stop as you arrive at the other end. Wastage of time to get round and round !! One has also to take into consideration the stopping due to the road works in Cirkewwa – another 5 minutes !
There is no proper express bus to cater for the Gozitans and each trip from Cirkewwa to Valletta to taking around one and a half hour, when previously the old Perkins or Bedford used to do it in an hour.
Arriva and TM are so arrogant that they are not listening to the complaints of the Gozitan public who commute to Malta.
Therefore a Catamaran to Sa Maison should be the answer. Gozitan voters, hands up !!
