Forty choristers from Chorus Urbanus will be in London for the 2012 Malta Day UK celebration that is being held on the 8th of September 2012, by invitation of Mr Joseph Zammit-Tabona.
The event is held annually at Westminster Cathedral, the Seat of the Cardinal of Westminster. It is a leading feature in the calendar of Maltese communities and individuals in the UK and is held around the feast of Our Lady of Victory, this year falling on the liturgical feast itself. Hundreds of Maltese and their families and friends, travel from all over the UK to attend the day’s varied events.
The programme is put together annually by the Malta Day UK Organising Committee under the auspices of the Malta High Commission and various Maltese sponsors.
The event will get underway with a Maltese Fair at Westminster Cathedral Hall in the morning (at about 10.00am), Solemn Mass in the afternoon (about 2.30pm), where the Chorus Urbanus will perform the Missa In Fractione Panis by its director Dr John Galea accompanied by the Organ scholar at Westminster Cathedral.
The service will be followed by the street procession with the Statue of Our Lady of Victories, (il-Bambina), with brass band and fireworks. In the evening the celebrations will continue with a reception at the luxurious newly opened Corinthia Hotel in London Whitehall Place.
