The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health said this morning that until further notice bathing is not recommended due to sewage overflow at either Xlendi Bay and St. Paul’s Bay, in the vicinity of Wharf in front of Fekruna Pumping Station, Malta.
Health warning signs indicating the exact zones involved have been fixed in the areas.
For further information, the public is kindly requested to contact the Health Inspectorate Services between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on telephone number 21337333, or by calling personally at its offices at Continental Business Centre, Cutrico Buildings, Old Railway Track, Sta. Venera or by email mhi@gov.mt. Outside these hours, the public is cordially requested to call the automated system on 21827146.

So much for eco-Gozo!
The ministry for Gozo was on holiday this morning (at the Xaghra fiesta?) and no one was available for comment except the telephone lady who eventually stopped taking my calls.
Lots of tourists were swimming in the bay and I sincerely hope that they will not come down with some sort of infection!
Shame on the Minister for Gozo!
