Following the success of ‘Rabu for Japan’ and ‘Bintang,’ Youth for the Environment (Y4TE) is once again gearing up for another fundraising party. This time round, the beneficiary is the animal sanctuary and NGO, Noah’s Ark in Cirkewwa, this NGO has been around for a long time and has unfortunately found itself in great financial difficulty that threatened its closure.
Y4TE would like to raise the public’s awareness of the importance of these animal sanctuaries, which care for animals that have been abandoned and neglected and are constantly trying to find new homes for them.
The party is being held on Wednesday the 3rd of October 2012, at the Anvil Pub, St.Julians, with doors opening at 8pm. There will be no entrance fee but donations for the cause would be greatly appreciated.
Worl Animal Day will be celebrated on the 4th of October, it was started in 1931 at a convention of ecologists in Florence as a way of highlighting the plight of endangered species. Since then it has grown to encompass all kinds of animal life and is widely celebrated in countries throughout the world.
October the 4th was chosen as World Animal Day as it is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
It is intended as a day of celebration for anyone in the world who cares about animals. It is not restricted to any one nationality, creed, religion, political belief or ideology.
Y4TE said that there will be great offers at the bar, a set of live bands to perform on the night and with this worthy cause in mind; Y4TE would like to urge everyone who can to go along and join them in raising money for charity, whilst enjoying a fun evening in good company.
This event is now being supported by MADS (Malta Association of Dental Students),UMGS (University of Malta Geographical Society), ASA (Arts Students Association) and UESA (University Engineering Students Association).
The invitation for any other willing collaborators to join Y4TE is still open, should any further information be required please contact youth4environment@gmail.com.
