The Gozo University Group (GUG) has once again organised a stand for Fresher’s Week at the University of Malta. The stand provides information and assistance to students starting their first year.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, who visited the stand at the University Campus, met with GUG steering committee members, as well as KSU members and the University Rectorate.
The Minister expressed her satisfaction with the fact that at the opening of this academic year the GUG had received about 300 applications for membership.
This year is the 25th anniversary since the GUG was established. The Minister for Gozo, praised the commitment of the various committees and the continued work of the organisation in helping Gozitan students over the years.
The Minister said that she agreed with the decision taken by the present committee to extend the services of this organisation to other Gozitan students, continuing their vocational education in institutions such as MCAST and ITS Malta.
“The Ministry for Gozo supports the commitment of the GUG to lessen the difficulties these students may encounter,” the Minister said.
The Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi, also paid a visit to the GUG stand to speak to the students.
This year on the GUG stand on the University Campus are representatives of MCAST and ITS.
