JCI Malta last Friday held the prestigious annual Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award. The award formally recognises and honours Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World in their chosen fields.

The award recognises the young persons' own self-development, achievements or even service to humanity in a variety of ways. The organisers said that a set of independent and reputed judges selected the Ten Outstanding Young Persons from Malta.

Ryan Mercieca, a promising young Gozitan was awarded one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award under Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership.

This award was given for his work among Gozitan students and youths mainly for advocating the right for Gozitan students to have their examinations in Gozo, increase in their accommodation grant and adjustment of the public transport routes. He also lobbied and was the first president of the Gozo Youth Council.
